The Sandymount Basketball program, #BAS061, is run by the Sandymount
Recreation Council, Finksburg, MD, and runs from November 2006 through March
2007. This co-ed recreation basketball program provides an opportunity for
nearly 200 boys and girls, grades Kindergarten through 9th grade, to learn the fundamentals
of basketball while having fun. An entirely in-house program played in the
Sandymount Elementary School gymnasium, our volunteers coach as many as 24 teams
in five age-group divisions. Our program goals
are clearly stated and begin with providing a FUN experience for our players and
their families.

Every player will be evaluated for team formation. All
registrants are REQUIRED to participate in one of the evaluation dates for their
school grade level. Anyone not attending an evaluation will not be placed
in this program unless placed by a program commissioner.
Note:
A parent and/or legal guardian is required to accompany each player to
evaluations.
The parent/guardian will attend a brief presentation of the goals of the
program and everyone will read and sign the county’s Youth
Sports Standards for Coaches and Spectators.
The 2006-2007 Schedule - TBD
In the weeks after evaluations, the coaches will select teams
and each player will be contacted by the coach. Players will have one practice
per week, beginning the week of November 27, 2006. The actual
practice schedule will be posted on this site prior to that
date.

Inclement Weather Policy
All public schools in Carroll County
will be closed on days when inclement weather conditions warrant. The
decision to close schools is made by the Superintendent and announcements, if
at all possible, will be made no later than 6:00AM. *WTTR
(1470AM) radio
carries the announcements
on school closings.
If the opening of schools must be delays
or schools must be closed early, notification will be made through the local
media. No announcement will be made when schools are on a regular
schedule.
When schools are closed due to
inclement weather, ALL activities shall be cancelled. All activities
scheduled for weekends and/or holidays shall be cancelled if the Snow
Emergency Plan is in effect for Carroll County at any time the day of - or
still in effect at 6:00PM the day prior to - the scheduled event.
Unless required for school-based activities, snow removal should not be
expected and appropriate precautions taken by users.
For weekends: If the
Snow Emergency Plan is in effect at 6pm on Friday or Saturday evening, the next
day's events are CANCELED, even if the plan is lifted by the following morning.
If the plan goes into effect during the day while your activities are going on
on a Saturday or Sunday, our game/practice that is taking place can run
until that game/practice is completed or until the hour's end (whichever is
first) and no other games or practices can continue for the remainder of that
day.
